I like your sea.My son said, "Mom, I suggested a topic for Illo Fri in your name.Me..."DON"T DO THAT!"...He..."well, If they pick it, you'll know they liked it!" ...Lord only knows what it is!
Waaah such FORCE. Will have a proper butcher's when I'm not half asleep. Vortex. < o >
Sons are good at rampaging online Janet! Thanks for your positive comment :)
Don't drown in your sleep Deplume, you might not wake up :)
Thanks Alexa Brett - the lady in Summer Morning swims in the sea every morning even during Winter!
Hi! this is swirling, whirling, wavy, curling! love the motion and colours!
hi!! im not still celebrating!, im resting, there are sometimes that we cant do what we want, im having some problems, cos of that i cant finish my paintings, but ill do.
very nice compositoin, is it an oil painting?, good, i like this sea..
+saluditos!!, mua!!
Very powerful and masterful interpretation of sea....btw "At Sea" was a grand old thoroughbred. Of course sometimes I'm all at sea myself.

Hhahhaaaa, don't get sea sickness ValGalArt!
Thanks Cecilia - it began as an oil painting but too large to post, so did a digital interpretation from it :)
Thanks Detlef :) Believe you are sometimes all at sea yourself :) Where are some tentacles?
i can feel it in my body swirling an taking me away and back to the shore.
Most of the time I don't like strong colors... but your participation is really well done and stylish :)
Bravo !
Lot of Power you´ve created there. Nice and strong. Would move up the mood in quiet areas!
So Stylish!
This is quite a maelstrom or should that be a femalestrom?
For me it shows the destructive power of the sea whist also playing with gorgeous glowing colours!
(What topics should we try submitting?)
Isaaaaaaayyyyyyy you're swirling awaaaaayyyy, come back we want you to staaaaaayyyyy!
Thank you Miss Trop!
The sea is never quiet where I live Zordis. Its roaring still manages to put me to sleep at night. Thanks for your comment :)
Your correction made me smile Caroline :) So did your description };-} (many have been submitted as those rejected)
Ah and I wonder how the sea does play whist... all hands blind?
I looked at the other three, but this one is my favourite. Nice fracturing of space and lovely textural bits. Do you have a website where your work can be viewed as a body?
WooooA. It remembers me when I almost drown in Puerta Vallarta, a few years ago. Those waves are strong. And so is your creation!!!
Love your colours, nice work...
I like your concept and style. Nice work!
Oh those colors !! Fantastic work, brings an exciting sea in mind, may be not daring to dive in. Also somehow like a sea in a rapid storm. Great work !
This is so strong and great picture, would be nice to see the original as well!
What about this nomination - is it for us to nominate? I will be glad to nominate you! :)
You knwo what to do with your brushes; there is everything I like in the sea...and in painting:-)
Here's a large mouth, indeed, that spits forth death and mountains, rocks and seas Caroline!
Pleased you like this one Andrea :) No website with body ... Anonymous wouldn't exist then ...
Thanks MerlinPrincesse! Don't forget that strength - teehee. I too have had a few near death experiences with the sea!
Thank you Ella and Majane for your comments!
There are multiple colours in everything when seen with light Katili :) The painting was made as a prediction of a tsunami which explains its verosity!
The original is large and diffifult for online Gudbrandsdottir. Which is why I did the digital version. Teehee - yes anyone can nominate, just click the Bloggie link in the sidebar :))
Aha! Are you implying that because you're A/anonymous, you have no body?
Thank you Paula for the compliment :)
We were discussing your death by drowning before the topic was announced Jane Doe. Do I need to find some restraints for the week or see what happens?
That's right Andrea ... but one of my other multiple selves has a fine one :) Just not online in a single place ...
love the energy of this piece, my favourite is the top right hand corner where it looks like three little fish are trying to escape.
nice work
This is AMAZING!! Very inspiring piece!!
Yes, I can see the three little fleeing fish Kiri!
Thanks Winnie Yao and Alina Chou!
Great details, colours and composition too. Very rich.
now that I have seen your "sea" (great work)I believe you are a Hokusay fan too :)ukiyo-e for ever!
As usual I'm incredibley late for this party and as usual another wonderful illustration. You and your little HELLCAT are getting my bloggie vote.
love
You can see so much in the sea Crosshatched! I like how you can see from multiple views :)
Thank you Constanthing!
Hahhaaaaa, YES how did you guess Aynaku? I have others which are prints that look even closer to Ukiyo-e :)
REALLY? You truly love me Unknown? Even though Hellcat scratches your eyes out and calls you names and I have scary friends? LOVE :)
I'm NOT little!!! };-}
It's a big churning rearranging vortex. Rock smashing foam crashing bahmmm wham. I love the energy. Old Turner would have had a good look at this I'd bet. My sea thing is on the way today, there's been a discovery.
....:::..-o
Thank you Nan :) Roiling sounds like the words of a sailor - doesn't it mean sea 'vomit'? Roiling over the sides ...
Haha Turner might be roiling Deplume :) Ooooh, will I find treasure?
Modroom got it right, churning vortex. It is excellent image for sea. does the painting look like the fractal image? It must be something to see in person. Wonderful, as always!
Beautiful and exhilarating. I like the jigsaw of turbulence. Now you need to paint a lighthouse!
If you treasure socks, you will.
Thanks Kim Carney! The original is more a vortex without the fracturing. A 3D painting using gel medium to thicken the paint. The original's lure is more the texture and center vortex which don't translate well digital.
No lighthouse Johnnynorms! It would be swallowed :) Thank you!
The rearranging, fracturing part is the manipulation; choosing the most interesting 'bits' Tiffy. Thanks for looking at the others!
I love socks Modroom and won't wait until Wintertime ...
Wowsers! I’m getting sucked into that vortex of water, watch out for the rocks arghgh! Beautiful interpretation this week anon!
Ducks duck that's why they're ducks. Except the ones who duck that are'nt ducks..)
Great complimentarty colors!
You keep seeing new things as you stare at it.
Lovely
Thanks Anthony Woodward! NOOOOOOOOO watch your head!!! Glad you see the beauty in being pummelled ... your skin must be nicely exfoliated :)
I will not rhyme this time
Deplume!
Thanks Toni Kelly :)
Yes you'd have to be careful not to commit a rhyme crime with that. Lucky you did'nt. Lucky lucky!
.::-O
Ooh, Gorgeous!!!
Very nice, multi-faceted artwork. The original at full size must be very impresssive and... wait, is that a butterfly flitting across the page? How'd that get in here? Looks like a Monarch, right?
Really brilliant work. It has an under water feel to it. Love it.
you've got my vote girl!!! This is absolutely spectacular...i love the movement you've generated and the colors are delicious! may i jump in and get lost in the tide??? :)
wow! great job implying the rolling and crashing of waves!
i almost wrote an anecdote about the when my husband was a marine (we always lived by the ocean when he was in the corps.) but it was tooooo too.
i love the ocean. i wish it came right up to our mountains. (i live in montana, usa)...but for my wish to come true, washington state and idaho would have to sink into the ocean. ... well, idaho wouldn't be much of a loss...come to think of it.
Amazing as usual. And the detail work is just as intriguing. I have to stop and figure out how big 900mm is.
Love your art and your blog!
Anonymous,
I love how this image is segmented yet, it comes together to give me the feel of a tunnel of water - and I'm falling in deep. Beautiful details in the crashing waves. Another wonderful illustration!
What do you think would happen Deplume if I committed a rhyme crime? Do you think this lucky ducky get struckie by a truckie; might get mucky cause I'm a tad too plucky :)
Thank you Liz Jones!!!
Monarch is a spy Twisselman! Better keep all milkweed away or it might reproduce! Thanks :)
Thanks Holly; like being called brilliant :)
Absolutely spectacular is just as flattering The Crafty-Girl™! If you stand close you won't even have to jump! Hheheheeeeeee.
I would LOVE to hear your sea sickness anecdote Catnapping! What does roiling mean? Shhhhh, we will have a rampage of irate Idahoeans!!
Hhahaaaaa, another one hopeless at maths Jayme Jacobson (knew you couldn't be good at EVERYTHING!) Whoops, must be NICE because you left a very nice comment. 90cm squared :)
Thank you String!! You don't need practise stringing };-}
Don't get sucked in too deeply Wilnara, tis all an illusion! Thanks for your comments :)
I like it; your work on flavor is really nice as well. I skipped that one due to lack of time and inspiration.
I love your work! Thank you for commenting on my IF "Sea" this week. I'll be back for more!
wow - such a powerful piece. and i love 'crowded,' too!
Thank you Ray Frenden and Nelly, glad you like!
'Crowded' Seagulls are popular KG! The print won the Honourable Mention of Bird 2005 Beijing Natural Cultural Centre, Xiwaidajie, Beijing, CHINA *breath* last year :) Thanks for your comment :)
This is beautiful!
You have captured the foam and movement so well! I love your summer illustrations!
this is great! the colors are just so vibrant, it really adds alot of sea-esque qualities to the piece. i really love the swirling effect in the middle, i feel like im being sucked in a whirlpool and im lucky enough to miss some of the scattered rocks. nice job!!
SIMPLEMENTE HERMOSO!!!EXCELENTE USO DEL COLOR! TAL CUAL COMO VERIA EL MAR AL SER REVOLCADA POR UNA OLA.
this is an oil painting? nice style, seems more like acrylic to me it s crazy! first i love the colors, the turquoise and blue are technically complementry to the browns (which is constidered a dark orange) this is why the blue hues are so vibrant. nice lights and darks, excellent movment, good pattern incorperation (i aussume this is from the computer manipulation), nice depth and tecture from the super white highlights and the super dark shadows all in all well done
i get a little lost in the center at first it pulls me in but when i rip myself away to look at the rest it's all magic
Thanks Cream! Summer illustrations are popular when you live on the beaches, so have plenty of them :)
Hhheheeeee, you're the third lucky visitor to avoid hitting their head on the rocks Chacha ... very glad the sea is kind to you also :)
Thank you Gide! Pleased you find my 'sea' beautiful and thanks for the compliment - I find the sea exciting and yell into its power :)
Began with acrylic paint to 'map' painting and then built it with other paints from there. Forgot this one has tile concrete to build 3D effect plus bitumen. Many layers of thick spatular applications of oil paint with gel medium to finish off. The 'shifting' pattern is the computer manipulation TedTopMedusa :) Another survivor - thanks for your comment!
Wow, this is really vibrant and kind of scary! What it most reminds me of is The Blowhole (down the Shipwreck Coast, near The Apostles). There's a fantastic elemental spiral of energy to this jigsaw-like picture that captures the feeling of looking in there.
I really like how you've used small round shapes to contrast against the linear flow of the water - excellent!
this is it... nothing left for me.... :)
Beautiful, Nonny. You've done very well with thsis week's word. Thanks for the look-see.
Gorgeous! I think I actually sea water here, well done... Run out of words, huh, that can't happen shame on you for even thinkin it :)
-patty
Know the Blowhole near The Apostles well Ian T! It makes you 'roil' and don't need to be on a boat to experience sea sickness :) It wasn't that long ago the bridge collapsed from an Apostle!
OH no Vmf4!! Don't jump ... there will be a good topic one day ... hopefully ...
Thank you Jeopey. Can't say show me yours because already had a look-see :)
Patty - sea!
That is too cool for words. So why do I bother typing? Like a whirlpool of rock! Groovie!
i like what a sea.
I can sea for miles.. and miles.. and.. miles. Ohh yeeahhh...::::-)
Patty see, see, see!!!! Even Tony LaRocca and OneSickIndividual have run out of ...
Maybe Deplume is sea nile, sea nile, sea nile. Oh yeah };-}
stunning! this is just so evocative of crashing swirling waves
I like this a lot. The parts are good by themselves, but combined works very nice together.
Hheheheee, I haven't jumped yet Michelle - so the colour isn't me. Thanks :)
Thanks Jaimie, evocative is a word I like!
Thank you Don!!!
I spent a long time looking at this piece, and it really deserves it. It is like a symphony, every note essential. With just a few simple elements you've given us the whole sea! The swirling, the vortex, the sweet foam and I swear I even see crab's legs! A fantastic journey. Thanks!
It was painted as a premonition of a tsunami, Satu. That's what it became ... pure force of Nature:) Thanks for your comment.
Thanks for taking your time to view and comment Alex! Glad you enjoyed the journey :)
La. Di. Da.
Ok, I am going to agree with how beautiful it is. I must.
Was gone for a week, and know you have missed me.
Something in the comments caught my attention – were you talking about the collapsed natural bridge that left two people stranded, two people that had no business being stranded together atop natural rock formation not too far from shore but without means of getting out of there? He-he-he…
If you happen to live in that part, that close to the gorgeous sea, no wonder this painting ended up being so beautiful. I am green with Envy. E is for ENVY!!!
I’ll be back!
Lily.
You have figured my secret Lily! Think your secret is no different except WE live that close to the sea and you TWO don't! Hheheheeeee.
When I paddle to your front door, don’t say you didn’t invite me over with all your taunts!
Will evacuate, E is for EVACUATE!
ohh.. wow! now here i got drowned!
and wooh.. 90 comments!
havent been online for quite some time and now im tracing back the best contributions at IF that i missed. now i wanna pause and stare at your work!
Thank you so much AtomicVelvetSigh, stare all you like :)
Existential Expressions of Extreme. This is NOT the Test, this IS the actual EMERGENCY.
Especially yours. Lily.
LilEE, LilEE, LilEE ... HEEEEEEhEEEE. Especially Equipped for Emergencies during Existential Events };-}
Love the water details on this. Also the elephant with its disabled comments.
Thanks Mary Stebbins Taitt, the comments seemed have have gone a bit wild under the elephants ;)
