In four weeks, Son Manboy will be grading for his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He trains six hours a week and has been training for ten years. I am very proud of his strength in both mind and body :)

Very dynamic - I especially like the way the shock waves circle out from the kick.

And Son Manboy has great will power to practise so.

Thankyou Vmf4! We have figured to shave off his long hair, we will need to tie him to the bed when he’s sleeping ;)

Heehee, Toni Kelly – I might just be pretending I have a Manboy :) This week might also be a comic artist. Thanks for your compliments!

Totally agree – yes I do!!!!
Chopping and kicking IS LOTS of fun The Mysterious Poodle Circus! Guess it happens a lot at the circus.

There is much strength in self discipline Caroline! Pleased you like the shock waves!

Son Manboy's foot - very strong. Don't get any ideas about him using it to step on cat's tail.

I like your uses of red and orange against that creamy white. wonderful lines. brava on a beautiful piece of work.

I think the detail is awesome as an abstract: blow it up on a huge canvas and paint it! (I would anyway)

A stunning image-- love the texture in your linework.

It is a very strong foot indeed Catnapping - although it's strength comes from the mind. We also have a strong family and Manboy wouldn't dream about stepping on Hellcat. She steps on him in his nightmares };-}

This is just the present I have been looking for Andrea! Only four weeks to paint ... and have about 41 prints to complete before that ... need strength ...

Thank you Megan!

This reminds me so much of the old Batman TV series with the kapow, wham, whack graphics. That's not to imply that Son ManBoy-san couldn't hold his own if push came to shove...especially with that forthcoming black belt. No doubt he'll use the power wisely. My strength is to act like a coward and scarper if push comes to shove.

Awesome comic art! "What was that? This is not a chawwade! We need TOTAL CONCENTWATION!" (-"A Fist Full of Yen")

Blogger Anonymous said...

YES! We grew big and strong not knowing we were acquiring an eye for Wham graphics whilst watching those episodes Detlef! Manboy has to pass many tests of strength and gain respect before acquiring black belt - although it appears to be a skill of strength in body; it is all from strength of mind. Ahhh - you need to gain self defence skills Detlef :)

Thanks Tony!!! I haven't shown many - maybe any on this blog, but this is where all art skills began :) In-ji sohn keut!! Whoops, just gave you a one finger spear thrust - sorry };-}

nice, strong graphic illo - strong colors - my husband practices Japanese martial arts (aikido and iaido) - you have to be commited to the practice, and i admire that. good luck to manboy. if i'm not mistaken, students aren't allowed to test for higher ranking until it's certain they'll pass, so i'm sure he'll do great!

Hi Anthony .. you mean the frame? Comics are where my art started :)

Thursday, November 17, 2005
Blogger Anthony Woodward said...

You never cease to surprise...
As for filters, that's the stamp filter amongst others...I'm guessing here :)

Thursday, November 17, 2005
Blogger Anonymous said...

No stamp filter ... did the initial line work in Illustrator then worked colours in Photoshop. I like appying layer styles and this piece has many layers. Used diffuse, paint daubs, accented edges then smart blur as final 'filtering' :)

Thursday, November 17, 2005
Blogger Anthony Woodward said...

Oh right, that's tricky! I've been getting into the layer options lately. The multiply option is real handy. Thats what I used for this weeks strengh entry. After playing with brightness contrast, I created a new layer of the same image then choose the top to multiply (I had to lower the opacity of the bottom layer) but it's good to beef up light pencil drawings...

Thursday, November 17, 2005
Blogger Anonymous said...

I LOVE 'multiply' also - 50% in the second layer is often good :) If I wrote every step in all my layers, there would be an essay's worth :)
