is that a remote in her hand?

when i was a little girl, i was the remote control. nowadays, control is remote...especially when I laugh too hard.

;)

I don't know the technicalities, but I like the effect you affected for the parents in the front.

pretty cool collage, anon. good job.

Thanks for your comments Vfm4, Isay, Sally and Catnapping!

This is a premonition had back in 2000 expected to happen in four years after Christmas but before the new year. Made hundreds of variants, trying to translate a remote sense into physical form. The dominant words were eruption, upheaval and remote. I felt fire and water which confused me. The background is manipulated from a photo near Central Australia.

Hhheeeee. There were NO remote controls when I was a child Catnapping!

hehehe...i figured you and I were about the same age, give or take 5 or 10 years...[evil cackle] hee hee [/evil cackle[

we didn't have remotes, either. Half the time, we didn't electricity to run the lights, let alone the TV...and we lived on modern military bases!

Catnapping - a lady NEVER reveals her age; nor mentions the words 'control' nor 'laughter' in the same sentence. MWAHAHAHA (even more evil) oops.

Thankyou Holly and Virginiajoe! It was an exhausting experiment using all art forms, but had lots of artwork to donate for tsunami relief ...

Everyone looks so happy about being caught in the swirling vortex of time and space. Come to think of it, I'm pretty happy to be caught in the swirling vortex of time and space. I love the pic. As usual your work is wonderful!

This one disturbs me, Anon. I sense a David Lynchian subplot at play here. The distance and placement of the figures suggests that there is potentially a disconnect between the familial characters. The vortex may be the start of a rapprochement.

Unknown, I love you because YOU are wonderful XOX

So pleased to have once again disturbed you Detlef :) LOVE David Lynchian (sorry Unknown)! Rapprochement! Sounds interesting ... why haven't I noticed a rapprochment in the last five years .... hmmmmm, because there isn't one to begin. Wrong, but I like your interpretation :)

These don't seem to be colors you normally use but I may be wrong.
You do look like a real cutie.

I like how you manipulated the landscape into a vortex but you are so close to the center and so far from your parents. hmmm well thanks for letting me analyze here.

BTW Catnapping yes control is remote for me also.
so there you go folks. ;)

Thank you for your comments Darlene, Alina Chau, Drazen, Pusha V. and Andrea!!

RSC says, “... by the way how you have made the butterfly?” Catch the butterfly and you will see :)

Toni Kelly is right, my colour choice is loud and unusual; as in ‘warning’.

By the way – I never said I am the ‘cutie’ nor is this a remote control tea party!! I am beyond ‘cute’ and don’t have enough facilities ….

This has the same bizarre, surreal feeling as another photo-collage you did a while back, although I don't recall the topic. There is such a contrast between the smiling, oblivious faces and the turmoil going on behind them. It almost seems that the little girl is the one responsible (she has a look of glee on her face)...for some weird reason, this reminds me of the end of Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke when the children all swirl off into the galaxy as a new life force, sucking up what's left of the earth as they go. On a more basic level, I love the colors and the vivid light effects...quite beautiful.

Interesting translation Carla; you are correct this is one of a series. Thank you for your comment.

Mwhahahahaaaaa, aren't we all Tony ... AND this was not my past when created. This was the future, which has become the past. Innnnteresting???

Crafty-Girl™ - I have never claimed the little girl as me. I am much older, wiser and better looking. I am also a person and Hellcat is a cat. You are Freak-a-licious!

Hhheeeee, YES remember Land of the Lost well Marina! You are right about a similarity in look and feel :)

Of course not Marina Vazzana!

Hmmm, if you love the concept Maggie, then keep it :) A viewer will never know the 'true' meaning behind an artwork. 'Truth' holds the past and where you stand at this place and time. Unless remote ... which also includes the future :)

I like the retro feel of the people, but it's the background that captures and holds my attention. I can't decide if it reminds me most of a wave, the ribs of some giant creature or a hand whose fingers are uncurling. No matter what, though, it creates the illusion of a vortex- of time and space?- behind the people. This is very cool, and has an almost Dali feel to it.

This one is so fun and trippy. Were you parents immigrants to australia?? Its like a mad trip into another world. I particularliy like the surf / rock formation! It sums up australia perfectly. The hint os green and gold is also an eery glow. Truely we live in a crazy mixed up country. But hey, Just keep smiling! Right?

This reminds me of that Carl dude, a comedien on tele who said that aussie never tell you what things are only what they are not and then you have to work out the rest.

"How are ya?" "Not Bad"
"What are ya doing?" "Not Much"
and so on...

Truely a mad mad place!

This makes me think of going for a walkabout and then having a picnic on a hanging rock, all very inexplicable and a bit 70s :=} (no idea what that little face means - hope it's not rude!)

First impression, something 60's something Roswell, what I really like is the feeling that I have when I look at it, something really out there, somewhere.Very good...I like art that wakes up feelings in me...

But I came to ask, because English is not my mother tongue...What does it mean "zesty", you left it on my blog...you were going to write "vesty" or it is like "zest" for enjoyment; flavour, interest?

Tuesday, October 25, 2005
Blogger Anonymous said...

Hhahahaa ... isn't a bad comment Katherine! Father wasn't born in Australia and both didn't live here ten years before children arrived. I haven't lived in Australia all my childhood but I'm not anything non Australian :)

Of course it is rude Johnnynorms :=} I have done those things AND in the 70s!

You also woke feelings in me Kikazinha - Zesty is an agreeably pungent taste marked by spirited enjoyment :)

This is a really dynamic composition! It draws your eye towards the head of the little girl at centre and the colours are powerfully deployed. Those two upfront look like they're about to read us the news, and the little girl is set to switch them off! I get the "Remote" sense from the layered look - almost like those old pre-Renaissance Gothic pictures - with the background appearing almost like a cutout, the girl on a layer of her own, and the parental figures looming like statues in the foreground, with each layer like a separate part of a stage-set. And yes, it's disturbing.

Thursday, October 27, 2005
Blogger LDahl said...

Mindless parental figures looking into the remote future which we can not see... not seeing the past layers whirling into a dinosaur rib cage vortex. Little girl with control buttons gleefully thinking she is in control of the happily self absorbed adults and her future, but she doesn't see the past either, all too soon, all will be rolled and crunched and lost forever in the layers. It is a remote sandwich.
